Today's Offerings on Humble Bundle and Bundle of Holding.

Once again, we do not have much on Humble Bundle, but what is available is a good bundle.

A look at what is on Humble Bundle and Bundle of Holding right now.

Humble Bundle

Once again, we do not have much on Humble Bundle, but what is available is a good bundle.

So You Want to Try Out Call of Cthulhu

An excellent rules system, if locked into mysteries, meaning there is a bit more of a straight line narrative in the typical Call of Cthulhu scenario than I like. But always high-quality art and writing, Chaosium has been setting the standard for production values in RPGs for at least forty years. The $15 bundle gives you enough to run a bunch of long shots or a campaign that would last a few months, but it is missing the Investigator's Handbook, so there is not much in character generation. The $25 bundle is one of the best deals I've seen. I bought it to grab a couple of titles I was missing. Available until roughly the 11th of February.

Bundle of Holding

Dead Air: Seasons

I know nothing about this system, so I am basically just repeating the copy from Bundle of Holding. A post-apocalyptic modern world game that takes place after a zombie plague. According to some reviews I read, it is a fiction-forward storytelling game with a shared "community" that acts as a resource and its own character in the world. There is a focus on the community-building aspect of surviving an apocalypse, which seems interesting. And by the time you read this, the bundle will likely be unavailable, as it ends tonight.

Shadowdark Compatable

I have heard a bit about Shadowdark, a dark fantasy roleplaying game with solid OSR credentials, and it is definitely on my to-try list. There is a mega-dungeon, a collection of quick dungeons, and a source book for Robert E. Howard's Conan-inspired play. It is only a collection of adventures, but the quickstart set is available for free here if you would like to try it. It is definitely something I am keeping my eye on. Available until about the 16th of February.

Human Gorilla Heists

I love a good heist, and this is a set of system-neutral supplements for fantasy heists. System neutral always sounds good to me, if only because the players of whatever we decide to run tonight are less likely to have seen it. Also, with tables of patrons and missions, it seems like a good addition to the solo player's collection. Available until roughly the 14th of February.

Halls of Arden Vul

Now for something I am a bit more familiar with, Arden Vul. A massive old school ecological dungeon (thought given to habitat and monster location), this is an absolute must-have for the OSR gamer. It is probably one of the nearest misses on my Dream Campaigns, with its sandbox style and factions waiting for their worlds to be shattered by a wandering troupe of adventurers. It is dauntingly huge, so be warned if you play as a completionist. Available until maybe the 12th of February.

Forbidden Psalm

Four, count them, four miniature skirmish games compatible with Mork-Borg. They cover four different genres, all with a touch of the grimdark, cyberpunk, fantasy, zombie apocalypse, and World War I. Step up to the higher tier, and you get more games. These have campaigns and solo rules and are miniature-neutral systems. I assume, based on Mork Borg, they have easy rules and complicated strategies mixed with a healthy dose of blood and gore. Probably great for a simple pick-up, solo, or cooperative game. Get it before the 24th of February.

Sleepy Hollow

A Year Zero Engine roleplaying game (like Vaesen and Tales From the Loop), based on Washington Irving's writings. Set in the early 19th century with a focus on horror and community. The system is versatile and has a history in horror and IP adaptations (Alien comes to mind), so if you are a fan of American romanticism, I suspect that you can get a bit of use out of this game - and Edgar Allen Poe wrote a lot of short stories that could make great RPG scenarios. Available until about the 10th of February.
